She’s hard up.
He’s just hard…
After an ill-fated one-night stand, Wyatt Landry was the last person I ever expected to see again.
By design, mind you, as I spent the last two years avoiding him.
He was only ever meant to be a good time—a really good time—and now, thanks to one teensy little mistake, he’s back in my life and wielding an entirely different set of tools.
It’s not like I intentionally hired a bogus contractor to redo our chapel, and Lord knows I never imagined Wyatt would ride up in his pickup truck, like a knight in thigh-hugging blue jeans, to save the day.
But here he is, and to make matters worse, he’s every bit as charming as I remember, and before I can fully process his reappearance in my life, he has my six-year-old daughter wrapped around his finger, my parents eating out of the palm of his hand, and my best friend shipping us like we’re some celebrity couple.
Thankfully, working in the death industry, I’ve mastered the skill of compartmentalization. Keeping my growing feelings tucked away should be a piece of cake. Except, seeing him every day definitely throws a wrench in that plan.
Before I know it, we’re trading favors for dates, and as much I don’t want to admit it, the feelings for him I thought were dead and buried are taking root and growing into something that looks a lot like love.
Daigle Family Funeral Services… don’t be caught dead any place else.

I wasn’t expecting to laugh and swoon so much with this story. It was quite original, peculiar, swoons, sexy and adding some emotional times that totally melt my heart!
From the characters’ background, to the colorful personalities and also about the heroine’s job, dealing with death on a daily basis, it didn’t feel that much sad, it was the contrary, showing kindness and compassion about people who have lost their loved ones.
Whitney is a single mom who has a demanding job, afraid to let someone in and giving power with the possibility to break her heart, but mostly her daughter’s (who has quite the ability to give a comeback in any situation). Sassy, funny and sweet.
Wyatt… swoon, swoon, swoon. A man who wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted. Cautious but always honest, totally straight to the point and managed to win her daughter’s heart without really trying, just by being himself and letting her daughter’s odd side to be, proud and loud.
These two had such an amazing chemistry, natural and insanely cute at times, quirky all the times. I appreciated to see how Wyatt was dedicated to Whitney and her daughter, knowing that he had to win over. In spite of a fast pace between the two, this relationship was based on solid foundations, genuine and honest.
The interactions with their family and friends were funny and heartwarming,
I laughed a lot, and swooned tons. This original story was somehow odd but I enjoyed reading it. It has a great blend of humour and emotion. It just made sense.
