She’s got game everywhere but the bedroom. Enter the player who knows exactly how to grade her curves…
After a very public breakup and a viral post that declares him the villain, power forward Cal Foreman is taking a timeout from women and relationships to focus on hockey. When Chicago Rebels captain and old friend, Vadim Petrov, “volunteers” him to help train Vadim’s sister Mia, Cal figures he can do a favor for a pal and get ready for the season with his new team. But the imperious Russian would slice a skate blade through Cal’s internal organs if he knew what lessons Mia really wants.
Yeah, not that kind of stickhandling.
Hockey phenom and Olympics hopeful Mia Wallace needs help seducing the man of her dreams. That man is most definitely not Cal Foreman: notorious playboy, thorn in her side, and her brother’s bestie. But surely a guy with his reputed skill set has a few tips on how she can nail her target—which makes him the perfect foreplayer.
Cal knows Mia sees him as merely the warm-up act in her grand plan to win another man, but as they spend more time together, he wonders if that’s enough.
If they could be more.
And if he could convince her he’s worthy of the starting line-up… in her heart?

Originally from Ireland, USA Today bestselling author Kate Meader cut her romance reader teeth on Maeve Binchy and Jilly Cooper novels, with some Harlequins thrown in for variety. Give her tales about brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, and she’s there. Now based in Chicago, she writes sexy contemporary romance with alpha heroes and strong heroines who can match their men quip for quip.

I enjoyed Mia and Cal’s story. The way they collided from the start and that banter, definitely entertaining. Sparks didn’t really fly and little did they know that they would become friends… but before that it took one arrangement, helping Mia to catch the man of her dreams.
Well, let just say, they didn’t start on the right foot.
Mia has been kinda sheltered for most part of her life and her overprotective brother, famous captain of the rebels hockey team, was trying to help her to get back on track. She is a promising hockey player but a little lost at the moment. One thing she was sure about: her feelings for someone who might have been a little unattainable but with some help, she might have her chances. Enter Cal who had confidence, women seemed to love him and surprisingly was easy to talk to.
She was a mix of strength and naivety (due to lack of experience) and also a breath of fresh air to Cal. That woman was going to turn his world upside down for sure.
Cal was outgoing but guarding his heart. Dating was good until things got too serious. When his friend, Mia’s brother asked him to help her with training, lines were going to be blurred for him.
Confusing and scary but felt right somehow.
Mia frustrated me sometimes with her stubbornness and a little behind when it came to her true feelings. Cal has found the right woman but she was focused on someone else. They were going to learn very soon that they had to open up and to take a leap of faith, if they wanted to make it work.
Mia and Cal made me swoon, laugh and melted my heart. I enjoyed how they started as most enemies to friends, then to friends with benefits. I enjoyed reading their story, based on a solid friendship. Mia and Cal had such a great chemistry.
It was lighthearted most of the time but when it came to the emotional, it almost broke my heart. I was rooting for them, to fight their battles for themselves but also as partners. I appreciated to see the Rebels reunited, an extended family that included a group of individuals who had each other’s back.
