From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men series comes an irresistible and suspenseful romance between a doctor who plays by the rules and the outlaw who breaks them in order to protect her.
Dr. Presley Baskin has always lived a quiet, calm life. Unfortunately, nothing about her life in Loveless, Texas — especially not the wild, rowdy, and impossibly close-knit Lawton family who’ve claimed her — is quiet or calm. Which is how loner Presley finds herself roped into patching up local bad boy Shot Caldwell against her better judgment. Presley wants nothing to do with the dangerous, brooding leader of the local outlaw motorcycle club. But when someone starts stalking her, Shot is the only person she trusts to help. Plus he owes her one . . .
Palmer ‘Shot’ Caldwell has always known his life isn’t made for relationships. At least until shy, secretive, Presley reluctantly pulled a bullet out of him. He’s oddly protective of the pretty doctor, so when she comes to him for help, hard-hearted Shot suddenly realizes there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to keep her safe.

I adored the first book from this series and the second. I haven’t read the third but I wasn’t lost in the storyline since I’ve met the Lawtons, a family fierce and strong who had each other’s back no matter what. Now they’re adding a new member, a sister they didn’t know about and who seems to be in deep trouble, that never ceased to leave her anywhere she went.
When Presley helped Shot Caldwell, the president of a MC, little did she know that it would change their lives. So different in so many levels, but opposites did attract and they were going to prove that.
An undeniable and strong bond has been created since their first encounter and the biker wasn’t able to stay away.
Presley used to be focused on her job and taking care of her mother, she didn’t know how to react or to be with the nosy and overprotective new family. For someone who didn’t know how to rely on someone she would have a bunch of brothers and a sister behind her. She seemed to be out of place in Loveless, trying to frame the person responsible for her mother’s death and all the trouble she has caused. She wasn’t safe and felt the vice tighten around her.
Shot Caldwell has always been seen as the bad boy and tattooed dangerous man, as the president of Son of Sorrow, a man of honor, loyal to his brothers and also flirting a lot with the bad side of law. A man who was not accountable to anyone. Never getting attached or feeling the need to be, until Presley came into his life and kept pushing him away. They seemed to owe a lot to each other, saving and helping the other.
I found their dynamics interesting, they seemed to be opposites but were definitely not. They had the same sense of loyalty and devotion to their loved ones. Completing the other and not trying to change who they were. Shot’s protectiveness and claiming her were kinda hot and sexy and she would give him a run for his money. I adored them together, building a strong relationship when some people were against it. They were true to themselves.
The family was also a huge part of the story. The Lawtons were a tough bunch, love with all their hearts and always with their best interests at heart even if they were sometimes over the top.
I found them utterly endearing.
I enjoyed this journey, where finding appreciation on the characters’ differences, a story about family and friends with a hint of suspense. Shot and Presley’s story moved me and these two made my heart race so many times I lost count. A story that took time to settle the pace, to let the characters explore and feel, with passion and heat, openness and sincere.
I was so invested in this story. Compelling, suspenseful and emotional.
