Catch Me When I fall is an angsty and emotional journey. I usually enjoy this kind of story and the author is a favorite of mine so I haven’t hesitated to read Emily and Royce’s story, two wounded souls who found each other.

However, all the beautiful things, moments between the two couldn’t make it for me. I can’t deny: I was overwhelmed, Emily for trying to survive after a tragic event and Royce emanating such anger, hatred and darkness that almost destroyed his soul. Tall, dark, handsome and dangerous.

It should have been a story to my liking. This intense pull, insta connection and tension in the air almost palpable and electric.

And then it hasn’t …

He was on a mission and she was the woman who could ruin it all and especially taking his heart in the process. Making him lose focus on his plan. Revenge. Destruction. Justice.

Even with this tattooed bad boy vibe that I usually like, it didn’t work.

The thing is, I felt going in circles with these two.

Emily was trying to overcome some hardships, to finally live and have a chance to make Carolina George famous. She has worked hard and with the band she considered like family, it was time maybe to make it more, to take that step that could change their lives forever.

Royce was struggling between this duty and not falling for the woman. Hot and cold sometimes, resisting but falling at it. Strong alpha vibes in the air, and being the one who could see through her, supportive and over protective when he came to Emily.

He was a man so drowned into his own rage, and was willing to do anything to achieve his goals, Emily would’ve definitely been hurt in the process.

Royce’s past is the backbone of the story, alternating the dual POV with Emily’s own scars, present and past. First half of the book felt a bit dragged to me, « I want you but I can’t have you » drove me insane. The second half of the book was definitely better. It was less dragged out obviously, I could feel their connection strengthening but I could see the drama and tornado that would destroy everything on its way.

I’m between two, I didn’t like it and I didn’t dislike it. A story with so many twists and turns and drenched in drama.
