Blurb:
Have you ever hit rock bottom?

I embarrassingly have.

It’s why I’m wearing my girl’s decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.

This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.

Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.

Heard it before? I’m sure you have.

So what’s so different about this story? Well, it’s about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City’s top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinely polished pedestal

It’s about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wingtipped shoes in love.

This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

Prologue:
Dear Gents,

See that remote in your hand? Yeah, the one that’s covered in pizza sauce and last night’s Buffalo wings? I want you to take a good look at it. Do you have it memorized? Good, now bend at the waist, set it on the coffee table, and stand up. Don’t you dare look at that remote again, don’t even glance at it. And the Xbox that’s calling your name, go ahead and forget about that as well, because guess what? You’re starting a new journey and it doesn’t include television, video games, or high-fiving over a bubbly belch from the bowels of your intestinal tract. Forget everything you’ve ever known about being a man, forget the hall passes you have for being a man, and forget every natural instinct you carry inside your bones. Because I’m here to refine you, replenish your knowledge on the male species, and turn you into a modern gentleman: a well-respected, polished, and confident individual with an epic sex appeal and killer style that will woo any female with a simple flash of your honest charm.

Stick with me, gents. I’m starting a revolution and it begins with you.

Sincerely,
The Modern Gentleman

The modern Gentleman is a feel good book, filled with strong laugh out loud moments, tons of swoony moments but still I laughed so hard it hurts. And that blurb! Priceless!

Wes is a writer for a social media platform and gives advice under the pen name « The Modern Gentleman ».

He thinks he got it right and is a master of the dating rules, knowing what women want and anticipating every thing that will make a woman’s heart melt. So wrong!

He may be great giving advice on paper, showing to the men to be « gentlemen on the streets and alphas in the sheets » until he meets his match, June.

Get ready, because all his theories will prove him wrong. And oh my this was an hilarious journey showing that his expertise as a Modern gentleman won’t work with him. At.All.

A woman who will almost ruin all his confidence he has built and challenging him like no one else.

I adored June and her ways to show him how to see the world differently, to take time to enjoy things, to appreciate their surroundings. Feisty, sassy and keeping him on his toes. I just loved her!

Wes is more acting than living in his life, just getting things done. Meeting June is the breath of fresh air and folly he didn’t expect. Also bringing all the things in a different way, turning into awkward dates and hilarious moments, just priceless!

I enjoyed how she will put into test every single move that he used on his readers, to help them to win their girl. He’s going to work hard to win her over, trust me.

Well, this time, Wes is going to be on the other side, trying to get the woman to give him a chance. At any cost? But take care, because sometimes shots like that backfire and he will learn it in a hard way.

I couldn’t put it down, following Wes’ crazy and hilarious journey where he found the real thing, true love along the way.

You can count on Wes’ best friends who are definitely inventive and totally more bold and crazier. But I adored this trio so much. They were just hilarious with their no filter and always got his back.

The storyline is somehow predictable but Meghan Quinn makes it even more interesting, writing some insane and memorable situations with creativity and easy-going. Don’t forget the romance… swoon, swoon, swoon.

Even if sometimes I was close to strangling Wes with his overconfidence or his tendency not to listen more to his heart than his reason. I guess I appreciated reading about Wes’ downfall and meeting this bunch of endearing people who I’m sure have so many great things to share.

A charming story full of humour, heartwarming with a communicative cheerfulness.

Right up my alley!
