Blurb
She keeps her heart locked up tight
Putting yourself out there? Getting close to others? No, thanks, I’ll pass. It’s safer to keep to yourself. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. So when I accidentally tell the muscled hunk I’ve been secretly drooling over all semester how I really feel about him, it’s not like I meant for him to take an interest in me. I don’t want a boyfriend. Not even when it turns out he’s so much more than just brawn.
My goal for so long has been simple – get into grad school. And when I get a dream TA position at the beginning of the new semester that will help me achieve just that, I’ll have to forget about him now that he’s my student. Easy, right?
He wants her to let go of all that control.
I can’t get her out of my head – the shy, sexy brunette that’s trying so hard to keep me at a distance. I can be patient, though. Anything to break through that reserve and get under her shields. But just when I thought I’ve succeeded, she’s off-limits. Say hello to my new TA. Even though I’m hot for teacher, there’s no way she would risk this opportunity. Right?

Allie Winters is a new author to me. So what about a story about a TA and his student who were already over before they started? I was looking forward to reading it.
Overall I enjoyed it. I appreciated Charlotte awkwardness and secretive personality. A girl who needed a little push to show her true colors, someone who loved to talk about books and passionate about it. Fun, sweet and not that uptight girl she seemed to be.
Luke was one of a kind. Determined, focused on his studies, very charming. I adored how he pushed Charlotte a bit in her bubble of comfort. To really make her feelings shown even if it was a bit difficult firsthand. Le freaking sigh…
I adored Charlotte and Luke’s interactions and they had such a beautiful chemistry.
However, it took me awhile to appreciate the story. The beginning was a bit dragged out, Charlotte on and off reactions gave me whiplash. One step forward, three steps backwards. I guess it ruined the dynamic a little. Some parts were coming a little late to the story, and probably if things came out a little sooner it would have avoided “unnecessary” length and heaviness.
The second part was so much better, a bit disturbing from the beginning but a great u-turn. It felt less hesitant, building this slow burn side that I adored. The lines were totally blurred and it was more bold, smoking hot and more passionate. To finally let go.
It brought a great balance in comparison to the beginning when the author was settling the pace and the story.
It was a very promising debut novel. The writing was good, and the topics raised felt real and readers could definitely relate to. It has a great blend of sweetness, fun, swoony moments and sexy ones. Luke was definitely a keeper!!
