Vince Morrison, known to most people as Van.
Good with his hands, be it crafting a piece of wood, playing his guitar, or pleasing a lover—he excels at them all.
Friendly, flirty, and talented, he’s cool under pressure, and hot everywhere else.
But he keeps his heart closed, even as his interest and emotions are tested.
Olivia Rourke works alongside him at BAM.
Talented, private, and intriguing, she touches something inside him he can’t deny.
He wants to know her. In every possible way.
He wants her to know him.
Her past tells her to stay clear. Van is everything that she wants, and exactly what she cannot have. She has someone else to think of who is more important.
Can either of them risk their hearts?
Van sat on the floor, his legs crossed, a few animals on his lap. A blue boa was draped around his neck, and a tiara sat askew on his head, the plastic gems glittering in the light. He held out his cup, his pinkie extended, no doubt having been schooled in proper tea party etiquette by Sammy, murmuring his thanks for more “tea.”
Sammy filled his cup with water and held out the plate of Oreos. I frowned. I never bought Oreos.
“More cookies, Prince Van? I made them myself.”
He lifted his chin royally and accepted a cookie. “They are delicious. You must give me the recipe. I’ll have my cook at the castle make them.”
Never had I wished for a camera more than I did at that moment. Unable to contain myself, I giggled. They both turned to the door, excited to see me home. Sammy clapped her hands, demanding I join them.
I expected embarrassment from Van, but he simply tossed his boa around his neck and indicated the floor beside him with a wide grin.
“Liv, you’re home. Join us for tea? Sammy has made the most divine cookies.”
How could I resist?

Since I’ve met the guys at BAM, a huge land development business while reading Reid, I was so eager to read their stories. Men who were running their companies in a smart way, and mostly being invested in the well-being of their employees, not giving too easily their trust but knowing the ones who would be worth of it, hard workers sharing family values.
Co-workers who were definitely attracted to one another but never acting on it, Van and Olivia were a great team. The single mom who has finally found a safe place to raise her daughter and a job as a happy place and wealthy environment. They might have common interests at work when it came to their relationships, it was definitely something else.
Vance “van” wasn’t the kind of forever guy and Olivia was really wary to let someone else in her life, especially to see her daughter to get attached for someone who wouldn’t stay. But still they met in the middle and when they let their feelings shown, it was just…oh my!
I had such a huge spot for Olivia’s daughter; Samantha who was just incredibly cute, melting people’s hearts and especially Vance’s. Just cuteness overload. I adored the moments they shared, the three of them and also together. So swoony and adorable!
I loved the interaction between Vance’s bosses, giving priority to friendship, helping as part of team but also as reconstructed family from all walks of life, enriching each other from their past experiences. A successful business run with heart and thoughtfulness.
Vance and Olivia shared an amazing chemistry, the sparks were definitely there but navigating through someone unknown, turning a friendship into love, when the stake of this new relationship were very high and ruin everything they have built throughout the years.
Melanie Moreland provided such a beautiful and moving story, so heartfelt and swoony, without unnecessary drama, putting together two people who have just to give a chance on life and love, proving that second chances were worth the wait when you have someone who would fight back with you by your side, in the good and bad times.
