In my opinion, in football, there isn’t a more badass position than shutdown cornerback.

  What makes my position so badass? Well, I have to be agile and quick and have a natural instinct for the game. My footwork has to be on point, and my speed has to be unmatched. I have to cover, read, adjust, and break on the ball. This position, my position, is one of the biggest anchors of pass defense plays.

  What does all of that football lingo mean?

  It means I’m vital.

  It means I’m the guy who will stop a quarterback’s touchdown pass.

  I’m the man who won’t let the best wide receivers in the league get their greedy hands on the ball.

Now it’s time for the rookie to meet his match. Leo Landy who was confident athlete who got hit by love, just like that. It wouldn’t have been fun if the authors didn’t throw a few obstacles in his way.

But I have to say that Max Monroe know how to write some hilarious meet cute scene, I laughed so hard. I almost didn’t know if I felt sorry for the guy or more embarrassed for the girl. But with a memorable moment like this, they had to be together. Damn I was already rooting for Leo before it even started.

Add in the mix a sassy great-aunt, some colorful teammates who loved to tease him no matter what, in his quest to find this mysterious woman who, in spite of their terribly and awful first encounter, immediately brought under her spell.

Gemma Holden could turn any situation into something freaking weird, and make some first memorable impression. She was a bit awkward, still trying to find her way in the world. She has also a crazy best friend who was utterly hilarious. She had some quirks, sweet with an engaging personality. A bit stubborn when it came to chase her dream.

Leo Landry was just too charming for his own good. Used to get what he wanted, meeting Gemma was the challenge of his life, falling for a woman he has just met, so crazy, right? He was down to earth, loyal and passionate about his career. And the way he cared about his great-aunt… swoon.

I had such a great time reading about Gemma and Leo, falling in love, challenging the other, and trying to push each other to follow their dreams. It was hilarious, fun, so swoon-worthy and hot. I’m a bit sad to leave this universe, to see some of the Mavericks players to be tackled by love. Just loved it!
