Iris Garrigan has nothing.

Well, that’s not entirely true. She has her trusty Doc Martin boots. She has her Bowie obsession. And she has the stray cat that sneaks into her bed and keeps her company at night – it’s a quid pro quo relationship. The cat gets a warm body and she gets something alive beside her when she would otherwise be alone.
She also has a job. Sure, washing dishes hardly has her rolling in dough, but with no permanent abode it’s the best she can do. She knows her new boss only lets her work in his restaurant out of pity, but she isn’t above cashing in on a little human compassion if it means she can survive to live another day.

Everything is going fine until Liam Cross starts to take notice of her, poking his newly minted police badge where it doesn’t belong. And if he doesn’t quit soon her not so legal living situation could find her in hot waters. Little does she know, Liam isn’t just being nosy, he’s trying to help. Iris has no idea that he’s been watching her for months, and that he’s completely enamoured with her strange and peculiar ways.

When Liam discovers her secret Iris has two options: stay and face the music or run for the hills.

***Cross My Heart is a contemporary romance novella and tells the story of the youngest Cross brother, Liam Cross.***

I am so in love with this series about the Cross brothers. Former convicts, who finally get a chance to do things right melt my heart, and it’s time for Liam to share his story, and oh my freaking swoon … I fell in love with him too.

For a novella it was a condensed emotional story. Well Liam is pretty intense, quiet and an observer. Being now on the right side of the law, he tried to make things right. Definitely aware of the second chance he and his family got, he was finally happy and not living for once in fear.

Once he met the beautiful woman with the sad eyes working at his brother’s restaurant, he was under the spell and in a way recognized himself in her.  I think he is my favorite Cross brother. There was something so appealing, his protectiveness and love about his family and also the urgent need to help Iris, like he couldn’t stay away, wanted to make her happy.

Iris was such a character close to my heart. Her life hasn’t been a very happy one, suffering from the loss of her loved ones, she learned to live by herself, not relying on anyone. Being unnoticed, to disappear in the crowd, trying to survive, was her motto, until Liam stumbled into her lonely life.

Her story broke my heart. She was strong and vulnerable at the same time. Fierce and proud but knowing when she had to accept the fact that people wanted to help her without motives. To finally have a family, even if it was not blood related. To belong and have someone who cares for her.

The chemistry was just intense, captivating and scorching. Liam won me over, literally. The banter was full of sassiness, emotional moments and a lot of flirty talks. Really liked it. How Liam was crushing every walls of Iris walls, step by step, and stealing her heart in the way … Damn those Cross brothers … le sigh. I can’t wait for the final installment, about the bold and cocky Trevor.
