⭐️ Review * Grin and Beard It (Winston Brothers #2) by Penny Reid ⭐️

Grin & Beard it

SynopsisBlogSienna Diaz is everyone’s favorite “fat” funny lady. The movie studio executives can’t explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood’s most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna.

But she has a problem, she can’t read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna’s latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park she finds herself continually lost while trying to navigate the backroads of Green Valley, Tennessee. Much to her consternation, Sienna’s most frequent savior is a ridiculously handsome, charming, and cheeky Park Ranger by the name of Jethro Winston.

Sienna is accustomed to high levels of man-handsome, so it’s not Jethro’s chiseled features or his perfect physique that make Sienna stutter. It’s his southern charm. And gentlemanly manners. And habit of looking at her too long and too often.

Sienna has successfully navigated the labyrinth of Hollywood heart-throbs. But can she traverse the tenuous trails of Tennessee without losing her head? Or worse, her heart?

I fell in love with the Winston Brothers in Beauty in The Mustache.

After reading it, three things came to my mind :

  1. ‘Grin and Beard’ was like reading a victorian novel but in our time. I don’t know if that makes sense to you. Anyway, you’ll understand once you read it.
    2. The sweetness, slow/burning romance and wooing made me grin so hard that my face still hurts from smiling!
I’m warning you : there are tons of sweetness, crazy love, dirty banter and jokes! Some sexy and hot intercourses are planned as well.
    3. I wish I could get lost and find my own Jethro. And I’m moving to Tennessee.

So well, I wasn’t expecting this for Jethro the former con who tried to make amends with his family and be a better man.

And oh my, I wasn’t disappointed. Just surprised by the tone and mood in the story. I don’t know what’s in the air in Tennessee, but damn, each time I want to go there. It’s part of the charm for sure but I think I’m not partial when it comes to this series anyway … I’m still seduced!

What happened when a famous comedian with curves that made men crazy, funny and sassy attitude (Sienna Diaz) meet a sexy bearded park ranger (Jethro Winston) with manners coming right from the victorian century, too charming for his own good?

Explosions? Yeah, thermonuclear vibes? Definitely.

I freaking love the mood of the story, with tons of sweetness, sensuality and wooing! Sometimes a woman loves to be wooed, and it was so damn good. It was a very, very slow burning romance. I really enjoyed the banter; so refreshing with plenty of sweet, hilarious and weird moments! Being in Jethro and Sienna’s minds was priceless.

Sienna was looking for a break. Far from gossips, paparazzi, from all this overwhelming life. Lake Bandit seemed the perfect place until she get lost. Sometimes you made the greatest encounters in unexpected places. Sienna didn’t know what was gonna hit her.

Jethro Winston, the eldest of the family. A troubled man who made some very bad choices and total carbon copy of his infamous and mean father. After realizing all the pain his family went through, he grew up, and tried to be honorable. I had to say that his choices were kinda surprising. *Swoon*

Anyway, I really enjoyed the universe Penny Reid created with these characters. Beautiful scenery places, handsome and sweet bearded men, witty and weird banter. Right up my alley!

Sweetness and hotness with a huge hint of romanticism. There was this little spark that made this book so special. Each time I read about one of the Winston brothers, I get hooked. This time is no exception. Next book, please! I’m ready for Cletus!!!
