Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!
Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she’s never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica’s muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.
Certainly, Beau’s magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-headed heart is she willing to risk?
Everyone in Green Valley, Tennessee knows that the six bearded Winston brothers have been imbued with an unfair share of charm and charisma… and are prone to mischief.
Truth or Beard is book #1 in the Winston Brother’s series. Each book is a standalone, full length (120k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the romantic exploits and adventures of one of the six Winston Brothers.

Reading a Penny Reid’s book is like unwrapping a present. Really.
When she decided to write a series about my favorite brothers and family, I was so in! She writes = I Reid. I’ve got a crush on this author! Of course this is my unbiased review!
When I started reading, I couldn’t put it down, it was so funny, romantic, and sexy with Penny’s quirky and perky writing style.
Truth or Beard is the first one of The Winston brothers’ series, this time about Duane Winston, one of the twins and Jessica James. And these two have HISTORY!
She came back in town after a long absence.
I really like the part when Jessica talked about her crush, it was well written, with a lot of humor, I could totally get her; the excitement when you see that person, your heart is beating faster, … Well done on that one Mrs Reid!
This character was so quirky and unique. (Her costume at Halloween’s party confirmed it)
All she wanted is to get away from this town and see the world.
Duane Winston, Jessica’s handsome ginger nemesis!! ( guys I’m doing my best to restrain myself here, because I LOVE the Winston brothers, so if I’m rambling or this part is a little too long, you’re warned)
So what? Duane is in Love with Jessica who have a crush on his twin!
Duane is such an old romantic soul. We’ve got a glimpse of this character in Beauty in the Mustache and of course Truth or Dare, which the perfect introduction of these two characters, at last Halloween party.
He’s got a lot of humor, not very friendly unlike his brother, he could seem could and a little tough, but when it comes to his family and love ones, he was very protective and could tell so romantic quotes, so swoon and sigh … I’m in love.
Jessica and Duane : just foreplay, « I love you but I can’t help to argue with you », and damn it was hot! Chemistry off the charts! I love the love, that’s all!!
This couple definitely meant to be, even after all these years of misunderstandings and unsaid things. It was sometimes so poignant, and we’ve got some hilarious moments too, giving a great balance to the story.
Well, let’s mix some bikers, exes ,blackmailing, some very endearing characters you want to hug every time, and you’ll be sure to get entertained!!
Oh, after, finishing it, I’ve just wanted to move to Green Valley, where the scenery places looked so appealing, the characters so real, surrounded by bearded men … I want book 2 right now!
