Review : Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers #1) by Claudia Connor

They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.
They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.
But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.

My review :

I’m being honest here: i was attracted first by the cover but when i read the blurb, i immediately put this one on my TBR!

The story was very interesting for many reasons:

– A women rising alone her four children
– The way both of them met
– The connection, bound created between this man and this family.

On vacations, carefree, and trying to have a good time, Matt couldn’t avoid his attraction to Abby, the beautiful pregnant woman with four kids! One stare, and how can i say that? totally smitten! For a guy who wasn’t searching for something serious, he did the contrary, getting close to Abby and her sweet family. In one week, an instant connection were created and for the first time, everything was so easy, natural for him, like it supposed to be.

With his work, Matt couldn’t be distracted, he had to stay focus on his missions. But little by little, he became to be invested more that he should have. Even if he saw his brothers having a family, Matt wasn’t expected to be invested so fast with her. But he could’ fight his attraction to her, like a constant need, and making him happy. He had some scars and losing his best friend in the field, wasn’t easy, and couldn’t let him go, especially with the promise he made before his death. But Matt is struggling between the promise he made and the future he could have with her and the kids. Risking his life, during special ops wasn’t easy for Abby, and sometimes Matt kind have his mind fucked up by not being here enough for Abby and the kids.

Abby couldn’t understand why this handsome man, who didn’t had difficulties to pick any women he wanted, had chosen her, pregnant, with four kids, raising them alone. She’s not having the best situation. She tried not to be invested with him because she thought that maybe it was a fling and their kind of relationship he had would be over as soon as their vacations ended.
She was so natural, with this glowing personality that attracted Matt in the first place. She didn’t try to get people, or impress them. She’s a wonderful mother and do her best to keep them happy, even if they didn’t have a father anymore.
But when her kids get attached to him, she was scared that they would be hurt by Matt.
Her past left her suspicious and independent, not to depend on someone. She’s used to be alone but at the same time she wanted to have someone on her side. Matt opened his heart to her and the kids and wanted to make things work.

Matt made my heart swoon so many times; how you can’t fall in love with this man, who loves this kids like they were his and the love he has for Abby, so intense, like they were his family!

I love HEA and after everything they went through, i wanted them to be happy! I enjoyed reading Abby and Matt’s journey from loneliness, rough past, to love, healing together. Abby and her family totally « Worth the fall » !This family was so sweet and endearing! Can’t wait to read the next story!I love series about brothers!!
