Review : When We Collide by A.L. Jackson

From the bestselling author of Pulled and Take This Regret comes a gripping new tale of loss and love.

William has spent six years running from his past and the last eight months trying to rid his mind of the dreams that increasingly haunt his nights. Trapped in a world of false ambitions and feigned affections, William knows he’s reached a breaking point and something’s going to give.

Maggie had lived her entire life without hope until one man showed her what it meant to be loved. He’d been her light in a lifetime of darkness. Six years ago, that darkness stole him away. Without him, she’s surrendered herself to an existence she doesn’t know how to escape.

When the family William left behind is struck by tragedy, he is called back to the one place he’s sworn to never return to again.

In a moment that will change his life forever, William comes face to face with the girl who, with one look, captured his heart. He is unable to ignore the buried desires and the hope for the future they’d once believed they’d have.

Now William is ready to fight to take back what had been stolen from him six years before.
But he never imagined what that fight might cost him.

A.L. Jackson gives you an intimate look into the lives of a family bound by an unseen connection in this new contemporary romance.

My review :

When we Collide is an emotional book which story goes straight to the heart, and deeply moves you.
By reading the blurb you are warned!

Just one look, Maggie and William were immediately drawn to each other; like a powerful attraction.
Like the moth attracted by the light of the fire, William couldn’t take this eyes off her. He couldn’t help it. His heart burnt, craved for her. But maggie put some distances because she was with someone else. Until the day his mother hires her as a king of housekeeper in their house. From this moment, Maggie, this shy girl, wounded by her past, and William, get to know each other. Little by little, he tried to be become a friend and even he’s not here for a long time, he took his chance to be with her, despite the forbidden.

This story told from dual POV’s, showed us how on the one hand, Maggie’s life and how tough her childhood was. How difficult for her to have some interactions with people, because she’s trapped in her life, family, and relationship with her abusive boyfriend. On the other hand, William’s life is totally the opposite; a loving family, happy childhood and freedom by the choice of his future.
Trust me, the parts about Maggie’s life were very hard to stand and i was hurting with her. Through William, she found for a short time how to be loved and cherished. They began a hidden relationship, full of overwhelming feelings. They found in each other their soulmate. Their hearts recognized how whole they were together, that this love is real. William fall in love with this girl, and wanted to claim her, her heart, soul, to be the one to make this girl smile again. He couldn’t stand to see Maggie’s hurt by her life. How could they be happy if Maggie can’t elope this vicious circle, leaving her sister and mother at her boyfriend’s grip. These parts about her were very tough: being denigrate constantly, living in fear, beaten, ending ashamed by her situation. William is aware of it but he’s helpless.
They decided to be together for real, to escape from Maggie’s life, to have a future together, but something’s happened and their life won’t ever be the same. And this moment was to me, the most painful, like my heart was being stamped on and tore into pieces!

After feeling betrayed by her, William went away and decided to never come back there. The suffering was too hard to handle and we saw that he is tripped by his own lies. He tried to move on but ending living a life that he couldn’t stand, tormented by remorse, pain. He became a stranger to his family, and had any involvement with anyone else. His heart was torn into pieces when she make the decision to stay. It was a long journey and reading about how he’s tormented, troubled made me hurt too. Even with a woman in his life, he couldn’t forget Maggie. Her touch, smile, her presence haunted him.
After 6 years, they both tried to live their life through all these pain. They reunited when William gathered his senses and decided to be here for his family, what’s he used to. A single glance, made William’s heart beating again. Maggie’s avoidance made him realize that he missed a lot of things and especially how she could keep a big secret like that. Being again with his family, made him realize to fight what’s worth for. No time to be a coward. But can he saved them both after years of abuse?

I really loved this book, the story was so gut-wrenching, arousing feelings buried deeply inside. Maggie and William’s journey was so emotionally intense. You won’t be insensitive to this wonderful story about two wrecked souls, who found happiness through a lot of pain and sorrow. They finally both found their home in each other.Maggie and William’s love story was magnificient and transcendent! It was my first book by this author and it won’t be the last! This book was very well written, without filters! This one will justifiably, astonish you!
